For Housing in Dayton, miamisburg

Rep. Michael Turner visits Habitat build site

Cincinnati, OH (August 13, 2009) –Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati Executive Vice President Andrew Howell and Rep. Michael Turner (R, OH-3) announced funding of $500,000 toward the completion of 10 Habitat for Humanity homes in Dayton, Ohio, and an eight-unit apartment building for special-needs homeless persons in Miamisburg, Ohio developed and managed by Miami Valley Housing Opportunities, Inc.

Today’s announcement took place at the FHLBank’s annual build day at the site of a foreclosed, abandoned home being rehabbed by Dayton Habitat for Humanity. FHLBank employees have volunteered for a build day annually since 1994. “I am pleased that we can directly address our housing challenges through the collaborative partnership of the FHLBank, our local lenders and nonprofit housing partners,” said Rep. Turner, who co-chairs the Congressional Urban Caucus.

The Miamisburg grant provides $400,000 to acquire and rehab an eight-unit multifamily building for very low-income special needs tenants who are homeless. The grant was awarded to KeyBank of Cleveland, Ohio, for the benefit of Miami Valley Housing Opportunities Inc. of Dayton. “We are pleased to expand our partnership with FHLBank and KeyBank, with whom we have developed nearly 50 units of rental housing for underserved residents, and we look forward to celebrating completed units next month,” said Natalie Harris, CEO, Miami Valley Housing Opportunities.
